Welcome to the Sounds Like a Search and Rescue Podcast! Also known as SLASR. Join an experienced search and rescue volunteer and his friend as they discuss all things related to hiking and search and rescue in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
This week we welcome back Nick “Chezwick” Gagnon to the show. Chezwick just became what I believe is the 3rd person to successfully complete a documented hike of this loop. We first spoke with Chezwick back in March on Episode 50. At the time he was planning his second time on the Great Western Loop Trail. This trail covers a number of long trails as well as some sections of open desert and mountains. Some of the familiar sections include the Pacific Crest, Pacific Northwest, Continental Divide, Grand Enchantment, and Arizona trails. This hike includes Nine states, 12 national parks and more than 75 wilderness areas. All told Chezwick covered close to 7000 miles in a little under 200 days.
